John "Rookie" Wright is a one-wall handball player from New York City. He surprised the handball community by winning the 2001 ICHA Mayor's Cup singles championship. Followed up with a close semifinal loss, in the singles, and doubles championship at the 2001 USHA Nationals. Considered a unstoppable force at times. Hits the ball very hard, has tremendoes reach, with a large arsenal of shots, mostly known for his master control of the spike. One of the best players in big blue Handball history.
