*Until 1720, the city was called "Châtres". It took its current name following the acquisition of the commune by Louis de Sévérac, Marquis of Arpajon (father ofAnne d'Arpajon, comtesse de Noailles ). To theFrench Revolution , it bore the name of Francval.Events
The third weekend from September takes place with Arpajon the "Foire aux haricots" (The Bean Festival), a trade event and artisanal which lasts four days. The bean celebrated here is the
