Hiroshi Kuronaga

Hiroshi Kuronaga (黒長 博 "Kuronaga Hiroshi") is a character in the novel "Battle Royale", and the film and manga of the same name. In the film he was played by Yuuki Masuda.

Pre-Program

Hiroshi Kuronaga is one of the class of third-year students at the fictional Shiroiwa Junior High School. He was a sometimes-member of the gang headed by Kazuo Kiriyama, occasionally joining them because he was in awe of Kazuo. He was one of the shortest boys in the class.In the manga, he had a stocky build. In one chapter, he was seen beating up Yoshio Akamatsu. He seems to be close friends with Ryuhei Sasagawa and was always seen with the gang.
Toshinori Oda referred to Hiroshi as "one of the violent ones".

During The Program

In the manga and novel, Kazuo Kiriyama sends a message to Hiroshi, along with the other gang members, to meet him at the Southern tip of the island when the students were released from the school. Hiroshi followed the instruction, only to be stabbed by Kazuo on his arrival. In the manga, he is probably killed before Ryuhei Sasagawa, as he is lying on the ground and Ryuhei's body is in a position that looks like he's climbing up the rock that Kiriyama is sitting on.

In the film, Hiroshi is part of a gang headed by Mitsuru Numai. Numai, Hiroshi, Ryuhei Sasagawa, Sho Tsukioka, and Izumi Kanai confront Kiriyama and accuse him of being a spy for Kitano. Kiriyama kills the entire gang.
