Tom Newey (born 31 October 1982 in Sheffield, South Yorkshire) is an English footballer who plays as a defender for Football League Two side Grimsby Town. Newey plays primarily as a left-back but can also operate as a centre half.

Club career

He was loaned to Cambridge United in February 2003 where he made seven league and cup appearances. He was loaned to Darlington in March 2003 where he made seven appearances, scoring one goal. He was offered a permanent contract by Darlington in May 2003 but turned it down. After being released by Leeds, Newey joined Leyton Orient in July 2003, where he made 63 appearances, scoring three goals. Newey re-joined Cambridge United on loan in January 2005 and signed a permanent deal with Cambridge two month later. After Cambridge were relegated from the Football League, Newey signed a one-year contract with Grimsby Town in June 2005.
