2000 by a group ofpuppeteer s who make and usepuppet s instreet theater and political demonstrations. Formed by combining the words "puppet" and Zapatista, the term originated in theNortheastern United States and quickly picked up use in the South,Midwest and on theWest Coast of the United States , as well as inMexico ,Cuba andBrazil , to describe a social movement ofrevolutionary artists and their work.ee also
