Giant Rock

Giant Rock is a large freestanding boulder in the Mojave Desert near nearby and even a small airport which he operated from 1947 to 1975. There are even caves underneath Giant Rock that were dug by Frank Critzer, a friend of Van Tassel's. On February 23, 2000, Giant Rock split in two. It has been speculated that this was due to people burning a wildfire directly underneath the southern most aspect of the giant rock.
