Fatherhood (book)

Fatherhood (book)

"Fatherhood" is a bestselling 1986 book attributed to Bill Cosby and published by Doubleday & Company, Inc. The book was ghostwritten by humorist Ralph Schoenstein.

It was later adapted into an animated television series of the same name, which debuted on Nick at Nite in 2004.

"Fatherhood" was referenced extensively in "The Simpsons" episode "Saturdays of Thunder", in which Homer Simpson uses advice from the book to win the respect of his son. On a later episode of Season Three, it can be seen in the fireplace as replacement for wood in Dog of Death.

The title and format of "Fatherhood" was mimicked in the books "Couplehood" and "Babyhood" (1996) by comedian Paul Reiser, and "Childhood" by Cosby himself.
