Carlos Pérez Rial, (born
12 April 1979 inCangas do Morrazo , Pontevedra) is a Galician flatwater canoer and former world champion.Pérez has been an international since 1999. He made his Olympic debut in Athens in 2004. His times earlier in the season suggested he was a genuine medal contender but he was surprisingly eliminated in the K-1 500m semi-final.
In 2005 he won his first major titles, becoming first European and then world champion in the K-1 individual kayak 200 m. This was Spain's first men's kayak gold medal since 1991.
In 2006 he narrowly failed to retain his world and European titles, both times finishing in the silver medal position behind Germany's
Ronald Rauhe ."Perucho" is amember of the
