Neil Trevett, Sept 2008Born Bridport, United Kingdom Occupation Vice president of Mobile Content, NVIDIA Corporation Neil Trevett is an electrical engineer and executive involved in 3D technology.
Trevett has spent 20 years in the 3D graphics industry. In 1985, Trevett joined benchMark Technologies as Head of Graphics Systems. (benchMark became DuPont Pixel, evolved into the independently owned 3Dlabs, Inc., and was acquired by Creative Labs). Trevett held the position of Senior Vice President of 3Dlabs from 1994 to 2005. During that time, Trevett was at the forefront of the silicon revolution, bringing interactive 3D to the PC. He holds several patents[1] in the area of graphics technology.
From 1997-2005, Neil Trevett served as President of the Web3D Consortium, which organizes industry-leading companies dedicated to creating open standards for communicating real-time 3D on the Internet. In the August 2002 issue of MaximumPC, Trevett was featured in a 6-page interview article titled "Out of the Shadows" where he is dressed as a ninja and discusses 3D chips.
Trevett is currently the elected President of the Khronos Group, where he created and chaired the OpenGL ES working group, which has defined the industry standard for 3D graphics on embedded devices. Trevett also chairs the OpenCL working group at Khronos defining an open standard for heterogeneous computing. He is also currently Vice President of Mobile Content at Nvidia where he is responsible for enabling and encouraging visual computing applications on non-PC platforms, including mobile phones. Within businesses, he is currently on the advisory board for Mingleverse, a new Internet-based communications platform that gives people the power to host and participate in a "visual phone call" and Change of Greenery Electric Bicycles, a touring company based in Napa, CA.
Mr. Trevett holds a first-class with honors joint B.Sc. Electronic Engineering and Computer Science degree from the University of Birmingham, England.
