next_no = 8"Can't Stop Now" is a song performed and composed by English piano rock and alternative rock band Keane, released as the seventh track on their debut album, "Hopes and Fears". It was used as the opening track for their live performances during the "Hopes and Fears Tour" from 2004 to late 2005. Currently is a regular during gigs.

An earlier version of the song served as a B-side for the first version of "This Is the Last Time", release in October 2003. This version features a slightly different piano playing and a clear focus on Tom Chaplin's vocals.

Musical structure

Considered a fan favorite, "Can't Stop Now" is one of the few songs by the band based purely on a piano melody, since most of their tracks include various synthesizers or electric pianos. The powerful intro reveals as one of the few piano riffs the band has to date, with the memorable up-scale from Fa major to Si minor seventh and the final Sol minor intro progression. Melody goes down an octave until the second chorus, where the intro is repeated twice more and leads to a power ballad-styled bridge, that would follow until the end of the song, with a final C major riff before the last line, "the motion keeps my heart running".
