Gerónimo Barbadillo González (born
September 29 ,1954 inLima ,Peru ) was aPeru vian football player who played forUANL Tigres inMexico , and for Avellino and Udinese in ItalianSerie A . He also played with the Peruvian national team in the1982 FIFA World Cup . He is nicknamed "Il Patrulla".He started playing in 1972 with
Sport Boys Callao. In 1974 he moved to play with Defensor Lima. In 1977 he arrived toMonterrey ,Mexico to play withUANL Tigres , a team in which he scored over 60 goals in the 5 years he played there. Aside from his goalscoaring, Barbadillo also played 17Clásico Regiomontano derby matches against Monterrey, main rival. He became team hero and is remembered as a legend. Because he is considered the best player the team has ever had, his number, #7, has been retired and immortalized.Barbadillo then moved in 1982 to Italy to play for Avellino, after his magnificent performance in the World Cup. He played later for Udinese in 1985-86. He is currently retired and lives in Italy. He's come back to Udine and since 2005 is the person in charge of the youth team of Udinese.
