Elgandal Fort is situated on the banks of the
Manair River (a tributary of theGodavari River ). Located amidst palm groves, it is located approximately 10km fromKarimnagar on the Kamareddy road.History
It is historically important because it has been ruled by five dynasties:
Kakatiya dynasty ,Bahmani s,Qutub Shahi s,Mughals , andAsaf Jahi s. It was the headquarters of Karimnagar during the Nizam dominion.It is believed that there is a secret tunnel connecting Elagandal Fort and Manakondur Fort (9 km away from Karimnagar on the Karimnagar-Warangal highway).It houses a
Mosque and anEidgah the designated place for specialEid prayers.Notable sites
