The London House, Chicago

The London House was a jazz club and restaurant in Chicago.

Several live jazz albums were recorded there, including "The Sound of the Trio" and "The Trio" by Oscar Peterson, and "After Hours at the London House" by Sarah Vaughan. George Shearing and his group played at this venue in the '60's.

It was located at the corner of Wacker and Michigan and according to Amazon.com, is now a Burger King. [http://www.amazon.com/gp/cdp/member-reviews/A3UWR6S33RZQ2N?sort_by=MostRecentReview] . The former London House jazz club, once home to such luminaries as Oscar Peterson, Ramsey Lewis, Dave Brubeck, Cannonball Adderly, Ahmad Jamal, Nancy Wilson and others, was for a time a Burger King restaurant, and is now part of The Corner Bakery restaurant chain. The jazz club closed in the early 1970s.
