"Empty" is the first album released by Christian rock band Tait. This album features Pete Stewart from Grammatrain, who is absent in the next album. The album is about how sometimes you are sad and feel empty, but God will lift you up. Several songs are influenced by the passing of Michael's late father Nathel, for whom the band is named.

The advance pre-release copy for this album contained slightly different mixes to the released CD and omitted the track "Altars" as well as both hidden tracks. The song "Altars" is the only song from this album to be turned into a music video. The song "Loss For Words" was featured on the soundtrack for the movie "Extreme Days".

There are two hidden tracks on this CD:One is an instrumental jam-oriented piece that appears after the closing track "Unglued".The other hidden track is in the pregap (or "zero" index) before the opening track "Alibi".This can be accessed by pressing the 'rewind' button on your CD player when track 1 begins. The disc scans back 6 minutes and 48 seconds into negative numbers revealing humorous answering machine messages with Michael Tait doing various character impersonations. There is also a short joke-oriented piece which could be called "My Buddy Bud" heard in this hidden track.

Most songs are written by Michael Tait, but Toby McKeehan co-wrote 4 songs on the album: "All You Got", "American Tragedy", "Altars", and "Carried Away". The song "Carried Away" is a revamped version of a dc Talk song, who Tait is also a member of. Toby McKeehan, Michael Tait, and Kevin Max each wrote a part of it.
