Lindsay Harvey Hoyle MP (born 10 June 1957) is an MP in the United Kingdom. He is Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for Chorley, and was first elected in 1997. He is the son of Doug Hoyle (Lord Hoyle of Warrington), a former MP for Warrington North.

He is Chairman of the all Party British Gibraltar Group in Parliament.

Early life

He went to Anderton County Primary School, and the independent Lord's College, Bolton. He went to Horwich FE College.

Parliamentary career

He was the first Labour politician to represent Chorley at Westminster in 18 years. Previous to Parliament Lindsay Hoyle was a member of Chorley Borough Council; being elected in 1980 at the age of 22, Lindsay was the youngest councillor ever to serve in Chorley and one of the youngest nationwide. Lindsay also held the post of Deputy Leader from 1994 to 1997 and finished his time on the council as Mayor from 1997 to 1998.

Lindsay Hoyle was one of the 1997 Labour intake of MPs winning a majority of 7,625 [cite web|url=http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/guide/seat-profiles/chorley Chorley|title=UK Polling Report - Chorley|publisher=UK Polling Report (Anthony Wells)|accessdate=2008-09-06] . He is a member of the House of Commons Trade and Industry Committee.

Personal life

Hoyle was captain of the wining team of 'Labour Tossers' who won the 2007 annual pancake race on College Green.

He married Catherine Swindley in June 1993 in Chorley. They have two daughters.
