"Guarianthe" is a small genus of epiphytic orchids, growing in wet forests in Central America and northern South America. It has been separated from "Cattleya" based on phylogenetic studies with DNA sequence data ( [http://www.cassiovandenberg.com/pdfs/2000-vandenbergetal.pdf van den Berg et al., 2000)]
