Terrence O'Brien

Terrence L. O'Brien (born August 8, 1943 in Lincoln, Nebraska) is a federal judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. He was nominated to the Tenth Circuit by President George W. Bush on September 4, 2001 and was confirmed by the United States Senate by a vote of [http://www.senate.gov/legislative/LIS/roll_call_lists/roll_call_vote_cfm.cfm?congress=107&session=2&vote=00068 98-0] on April 15, 2002. He replaced Judge Wade Brorby, who assumed Senior status.

O'Brien received a B.S. and a J.D. from the University of Wyoming. He served in the U.S. Army for three years in between his undergraduate and legal studies. Prior to his appointment to the Tenth Circuit, O'Brien had a long career both in private practice and public service. He worked as a staff attorney in the U.S. Department of Justice from 1972-1974 and as a Wyoming state district judge from 1980-2000. He was in private practice immediately prior to joining the Tenth Circuit.
