Eliud Kipchoge (born
November 5 1984 inKapsisiywa , nearKapsabet ) is aKenya n long distance runner.He graduated from Kaptel Secondary School in 1999 but did not run seriously then. In 2002 he won Kenyan trials for the
2002 IAAF World Cross Country Championships junior race. At the World Cross Country Championships, held in Dublin, he finished fifth and was part on the Kenyan junior team winning gold. He also won 5000 metres race at the Kenyan trial for the2002 World Junior Championships in Athletics , but got ill and missed the championships. At the2003 IAAF World Cross Country Championships he won the junior race.He won a gold medal at the 5000m final of the 2003 World Championships, beating runner-up

31 December 2006 he ran a new World Record over 10 kilometres road race in the San Silvestre Vallence race inMadrid . In a heavy battle between him andZersenay Tadese he finished in 26.54 minutes, breakingHaile Gebrselassie 's record of 27.02 minutes for a road race (but not a track race). Tadese got the same time, but finished slightly behind Kipchoge.
