The Driving Stupid

The Driving Stupid were an American rock group of composed of amateur musicians from New Jersey, who are best remembered for the inclusion of their song "Horror Asparagus Stories" in Garage Rock compilations such as "Pebbles" and "Garage Beat '66." Although their music is quite unpolished, they are known among Garage Rock collectors for their rarity and for the absurdity of their lyrics.

The members of the band were lead guitarist Kelley Rodgers, bassist and vocalist Dwight Harris, Richard Ehrenberg on rhythm guitar and vocals, and Jeff Hildt on drums, some guitar, and vocals. The son of Richard Ehrenberg, Philip Ehrenberg, now goes to The Paideia School in Atlanta, Georgia, where he plans on making a documentary of the group.

Kelley Rodgers is my current stage name as a standup comic. At the time I formed The Driving Stupid, I was Roger Kelley (my real name). I wrote "Horror Asparagus Stories" and wrote or co-wrote most of thesongs on the album. Also sang lead on most of the songs on the album.
