Rashad Washington (born March 15, 1980 in Wichita, Kansas) is an American football safety who is currently a free agent. He was drafted by the New York Jets in the seventh round of the 2004 NFL Draft. He played college football at Kansas State. He played tailback and defensive back at Wichita High School Southeast.

College career

While attending Kansas State University, he played in 49 games (38 on defense and 11 on offense) with 28 starts. On defense, he finished with 195 tackles, three sacks, three fumble recoveries, three forced fumbles, three interceptions, and two touchdowns. On special teams, he returned five blocked punts for 125 yards and added 14 rushes for 106 yards and a reception for a 33-yard TD on offense.

High, where he was coached by Carl Taylor and Dan Johnson...First-team All-State pick by the Topeka Capital-Journal and Wichita Eagle, adding USA Today honorable mention All-USA recognition...All-City choice as a running back and free safety, adding honorable mention All-Class 6A defensive accolades in 1998...All-City honorable mention running back in 1997...Also a three-time All-City pick in basketball at Southeast...First-team All-Class 6A selection as a running back in 1998...First team All-state choice in football and second-team pick in basketball (18.6 avg) following his junior year, while earning first team All-State honors in both sports as a senior...Super Prep All-Midlands and All-America selection and also a member of the Prep Star Dream Team and All-Big 12 Region squad...Rated as the top player in Kansas, and fifth-best athlete in the Big 12 region, by the National Recruiting Advisor...Member of the Prep Star Dream Team as one of the top-rated athletes in the nation, and one of the top three in the Big Twelve Region...Rushed for 1327 yards and 23 touchdowns in 1998...Also a three-year starter as a defensive back...Attempted 17 passes, completing nine for 262 yards and four touchdowns...His best game came when he rushed 36 times for 212 yards and four touchdowns as a senior...One of the top prep basketball players in the state, leading Southeast to the 1999 Kansas 6A state championship with a 23-2 record and scoring 28 points in the championship game...First-team All-State basketball player and was named the Kansas Player of the Year and honorable-mention All-USA by USA Today after averaged 16 points and five rebounds as a senior...Scored 1373 points in his basketball career.

Professional career

Washington was selected by the Jets in the seventh round (236th overall) of the 2004 NFL Draft. He was released by the team on November 5, 2007.
