Karl Spring

Karl Spring is the chief meteorologist at KQDS-TV FOX 21 in Duluth, Minnesota. He started in September 2008 after leaving KBJR-TV in July 2008. Prior to KBJR Karl was a meteorologist for KSTP-TV and chief meteorologist at WFTC (from 2001 until 2004), both in Minneapolis.

Karl Spring's first night as weathercaster at Channel 21 (KQDS, Duluth, FOX21] was Thursday, September 11, 2008, when the "baton" (actually the weathermap remote control) was passed by Todd Nelson to Karl Spring. It was Todd Nelson's last day as Chief Meteoroligist at Channel 21, as he was relocating to the Twin Cities. Karl Spring's first day as Chief Meteorologist in his own right was Friday, September 12, 2008, during the 9 p.m. newscast. Karl Spring is scheduled to appear Sundays through Thursdays on Channel 21. On his first full night, Sept. 12, 2008, Karl Spring stated on the air that he loves this job and station, and will remain there "forever."

Karl is certified by the American Meteorological Society and the National Weather Association. He and his wife live in Duluth with their four children. The oldest is Kal Howg.
