In a 2006 "New York Times" article, reporter Christine Lagoria reported that she had contacted Glenndale University in response to an e-mail offering a diploma for $500. She was informed that the degree was "a non-accredited degree and cannot be used for transferring credits to another institution of higher learning", but was also assured that it could be used for business or professional pursuits. She was then told that she would "receive, within 7 to 10 business days, a
