HMAS "Lachlan" (K-364/F-364) was a
River class frigate that served theRoyal Australian Navy from 1945-1949.She was named for the
Lachlan River inNew South Wales , which rises in theGreat Dividing Range near Cullerin and flows into theMurrumbidgee River near Balranald.She was laid down by Morts Dock and Engineering Company at Balmain on 22 March 1943 and launched on 25 March 1944 by Mrs. J. H. Scullin, wife of the former
Prime Minister .She was commissioned into the RAN on 14 February 1945 and paid off on 5 October 1949.
She was transferred to the
Royal New Zealand Navy and served as warship|HMNZS|Lachlan|F364 as a survey andAntarctic supply vessel until February 1975.
