- HMAS Culgoa (K408)
HMAS "Culgoa" (K408/F408/A256), named for the
Culgoa River , was a "Bay" class frigate serving in theRoyal Australian Navy . She was laid down byHMA Naval Dockyard atWilliamstown, Victoria on 15 July 1943 as HMAS "Murray", but was renamed to avoid confusion with the British ship of the same name. The frigate was launched on 22 September 1945 by Mrs. Showers, wife of the Second Naval Member of the AustralianCommonwealth Naval Board , and completed on 24 December 1946.
