New York Brookhattan was an American soccer club based in New York, New York that was a member of the professional American Soccer League. The club joined the ASL for its final season.

After the disintegration of the original ASL following the 1933 spring season, Brookhattan and the New York Americans of the old league helped form a new, but lower professional level, ASL in 1933/34.

Before the 1938/39 season the club dropped "New York" from their name becoming simply Brookhattan. When coffee importer Eugene Diaz, previous owner of New York Galicia, bought the team, he renamed it Brookhattan-Galicia before the 1957/58 season. That name lasted only one season when the club simply became Galicia S.C.. Before the 1961/62 season the team merged with the amateur club Honduras to become Galicia-Honduras.

In 1945 they won the ASL, U.S. Open Cup and Lewis Cup.[1]

Jerseys and grounds

The ASL News "What You Want To Know" section in 1942 lists their colors as "Purple and Gold Jerseys with four-inch gold band around middle." Their alternate jersey was maroon. Their playing field was Starlight Park, East 177th street and Tremont Avenue, Bronx.

By 1948, their jersey had black and yellow vertical stripes. No mention of their shorts or an alternate jersey. At that time they were playing at Sterling Oval, 366 East 165th Street in the Bronx (4 blocks east of Grand Concourse).

By 1956, they still had the black and yellow verticals (as Brookhattan-Galicia) but listed their alternate jersey as blue and white stripes (did not indicate dark or light or horizontal or vertical.) At that time they were playing in Zerega Oval, 1264 Zerega Avenue, Bronx.
