FreeBIX

FreeBIX

FreeBIX is an Internet Exchange Point started by the Belgian Internet service provider RealROOT. It links several colocation facilities in Belgium, but does not provide these facilities itself.

FreeBIX peering is available at a number of POPs:

Belgium
* InterXion, Zaventem
* LCL, Diegem
* Versatel, Nossegem

Membership is completely free (except patching costs to the switch, if any, which are imposed by the chosen datacenter).FreeBIX is the second Internet Exchange Point in Belgium, next to BNIX. It carries IPv4, IPv6 and Multicast.

Hardware used for the exchange is Foundry for core switches, and Dell for stub switches.

International links

In the past, FreeBIX also featured links to a number of data centers in The Netherlands, but these are being disconnected gradually and no new applications are accepted.
