Howard Bentham

Broadcaster Howard Bentham was born in Bedford in 1965

Early career

After leaving home in 1984, Bentham decided to study Geography and Sociology at Birmingham University. Howard is a member of the university old boys' cricket team, The Bunnies C.C. He is a very talented left arm off spin bowler. He also played Hockey in goal for Bournville but made his name as 'Doctor A' in goal for Edgbaston Hockey Club [http://www.edgbastonhc.co.uk/] for his ability to clear up any problems the defenders may have!!

Broadcasting career

After various teaching jobs aroung the country, Bentham started broadcasting on Hospital Radio in Dudley & in 1997 he took up his first Radio job on Wolverhampton's Classic Gold WABC, where he presented the weekend overnight slot. The station was still broadcasting more local programmes then.

At the time he was still teaching, but he was then able to fit in what he could at Stratford's The Bear 102.

In January 2001, Bentham took over The Bear 102's Breakfast show. It was during his first week as Breakfast presenter, that his wife gave birth to their first child.

BBC Hereford & Worcester

In mid 2005, Bentham became Breakfast presenter on BBC Hereford & Worcester, taking over from Mike George, who had retired from the slot to present a couple of Weekend shows for the station.

The show is broadcast every Monday - Friday from 6.00-9.00am & is a mix of news, music & chat.

BBC Radio Five Live

Howard has recently been recruited to present the football coverage on BBC Radio Five Live Sports Extra.
