Gideon Defoe

Gideon Defoe is the author of "The Pirates! in an Adventure with Scientists," a swashbuckling tale of the true voyage of Charles Darwin, and "The Pirates! in an Adventure with Whaling" (published in the US as "The Pirates! In an Adventure with Ahab"), in which the pirates meet with Captain Ahab and help him in the hunt for the legendary white whale in order to pay a debt and impress a girl. A third book, "The Pirates! in an Adventure with Communists", was released in September 2006, and the fourth, "The Pirates! in an Adventure with Napoleon", was released in May 2008.

His publishers claim that Gideon started writing stories about pirates to convince a young lady to leave her boyfriend for him (she didn't).

He is also the co-author, with David Strom, of "How Animals Have Sex", and enjoys "EastEnders".
