Geitastrand

Geitastrand is a former municipality in Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway.

It was created when split from Børsa on January 1 1905. At this point Geitastrand had a population of 674. On January 1 1963 Geitastrand was merged with Orkanger, Orkdal and Orkland to form the new Orkdal municipality. Before the merger Geitastrand had 559 inhabitants.

Geitastrand encompasses the coast along the Trondheimsfjord from Orkanger to Agdenes. The district is thinly populated, and has no significant villages. Byneset in Trondheim is located across the fjord (Korsfjord).
