Empire Battleaxe

"Empire Battleaxe" was a Landing Ship, Infantry originally laid down for the United States Navy as the USS "Cape Berkeley" but transferred before entering service in 1943 to the British Ministry of War Transport and renamed "Empire Battleaxe".

She was operated from 1944 until 1946 by the Royal Navy, when she was called HMS "Dovovan". In 1946 she reverted back to the Ministry of War Transport and "Empire Battleaxe".

She was returned to the United States Maritime Commission in 1947. She was laid up in the James River, Virginia in 1950 and scrapped at New Jersey in 1966.
