May 20 ,1982 inEdinburgh ,Scotland . Educated atMerchiston Castle School where he captained therugby union side to victory in theScottish Schools Cup . He signed a professional contract withNewcastle Falcons after leaving Merchiston. However, as the constant understudy toJonny Wilkinson atNewcastle Falcons he moved to theEdinburgh Gunners in the summer of 2004. He representedScotland at under 21, under 19 and under 18 levels before winning his first cap for the Scottish rugby union side as a replacement against Romania. He has gone on to win 2 more, including one against theAll Blacks , where he came on as a replacement in the 70th minute and orchestrated Scotland's only try of the match with a deft kick behind the New Zealand defence for speedster Simon Webster to dive on.He also led Scotland A to the final of the Churchill Cup in Canada, and has become a central figure at Edinburgh Gunners. He was tipped to succeed
Dan Parks as Scotland's number 10 in the 2006-07 season, but due to a dip in form he didn't stake his claim.References
