Sascha Goc (born
April 14 1979 inCalw ,West Germany ) is a Germanice hockey player currently playing for theHannover Scorpions of theDeutsche Eishockey League . He played in theNational Hockey League for theNew Jersey Devils and theTampa Bay Lightning ; he also played in theAmerican Hockey League for theAlbany River Rats and theSpringfield Falcons . His brotherMarcel Goc currently plays for theSan Jose Sharks of the NHL. Sascha is a valued penalty killer. He was a member on the Germany hockey team in the1998 Winter Olympics inNagano ,Japan and in the2002 Winter Olympics inSalt Lake City .NHL career
Sascha Goc was drafted 157th overall by the
New Jersey Devils in the1997 NHL Entry Draft where he played 13 games without scoring a point and collecting four penalty minutes. He was traded to Tampa Bay and played nine more games without scoring a point. After that he went back to Germany to play for theMannheim Eagles and currently plays for the Hannover Scorpions, where he scored 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points in 50 games in 2005–06.Olympics
Playing for the German Olympic hockey team in 1998, Sascha Goc was an alternate team captain and led Germany to the semi-finals, losing to Team U.S. 4–2. He also made a return to the German hockey team in 2002 and led Germany to the quarterfinals, losing to Team
