Evanston, Illinois ) is an Americancomposer .Biography
Walker's formal studies included
Boston University (composition: Joyce Mekeel) and theUniversity of Chicago (composition:Ralph Shapey ). His undergraduate work at Boston University yielded him the distinction of the School of Fine Arts department's coveted Honors Awards in Composition. During this time, he spent numerous hours 'across the river' atMIT , working with faculty and students at all levels in early multimedia experiments. As a Graduate Fellow at the University of Chicago, he established, developed curricula for, and directed the inaugural activities of the Studio for Electronic Music.Profile
His work draws from many sources, and he has a keen interest in blending disparate influences into one cohesive whole: from the structured avant-garde to warm, unstructured new age ambiences. Listeners and critics alike have consistently suggested that his output more incorporates
painting techniques than those of traditional composition. Walker withdrew all existing work from circulation in 1985 for personal and artistic reasons. His first new releases in 20 years are forthcoming within the next 12 months.References
