"Escape to the Country" is a daytime television programme aired on BBC Two. It is currently presented by Jules Hudson and Alistair Appleton (on alternate days). Previous presenters include Catherine Gee, Nick Page and Melissa Porter. Produced by talkbackTHAMES and shown to air from 2002, the basic premise of the show is that a person/family wishes to relocate from their current city home to a more peaceful and rural retreat. It is then the job of the shows presenter to find four houses for the family to view via laptop in their own homes. The family must then choose two out of the four houses to go and view for themselves. In addition, there is also the option of choosing the presenter's 'mystery house'. It is commonplace for the families to buy none of the houses because they realise that they don't want to live in the countryside and/or don't like the style of house. Nick Page gets especially annoyed at this.

The show is typically aired during weekdays mornings on BBC One or afternoons on BBC Two. It lasts for approximately forty-five minutes. Repeat episodes are shown on UKTV Style.
