Hoboken F.C. 1912 is a soccer club based in Northern New Jersey, USA that plays in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

History

Hoboken F.C. 1912 was founded on March 12, 1912 in Hoboken, New Jersey when German athletes belonging to the German Merchant Marines successfully organized the Germania Football Club. The founders of the club were Louis Siedenburg, Bernard Siedenburg, Emil Perlinsky, Karl Zeltmann and Richard Wrenge and its first president was Louis Siedenburg. In the 1913-1914 season the club initiated the first league games in the North Jersey Soccer League.

In 1916 the name of the club was changed to the Hoboken Soccer Football Club 1912, commonly known as Hoboken F.C. Throughout the next several years the members of the club consisted of members of German Merchant Marines as well as other German immigrants who settled in the Hoboken area. The club won the championship of the North Jersey Soccer League in 1916, 1918, 1919, 1920 and 1921. In 1923 the club was one of the founding members of the German American Soccer League, now the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

In 1928 and 1930, Hoboken F.C. won the Staats-Herold Cup and in 1931 the team won the first German-American Cup over Phoenix Philadelphia. In both 1942 and 1943, Hoboken F.C. won the New Jersey State Cup.

In 1945 the club moved its headquarters and home field from Hoboken to Schuetzenpark in North Bergen, New Jersey. Schuetzenpark would remain the club's home for the next thirty years. These years would be the some of the greatest in the club's history. As many new immigrants came in the years following the war, the club would see a tremendous growth in its membership. In 1950, Hoboken F.C. won the second division of the German-American Football Association. In 1960, Hoboken F.C. undertook a good will tour to Canada and to the surprise of many captured the German-Canadian Cup. In 1961 and 1964, Hoboken F.C. would again win the New Jersey State Cup.

In 1962, in commemoration of the club's 50th Anniversary, Hoboken F.C. undertook its first tour of Germany. The club would again undertake tours in 1964 and 1967. The club also began a very successful junior team movement in the late 1960s. In 1965, Hoboken F.C. won the New Jersey Indoor Championship. In 1970 both the club's First and Reserve teams won their group championships. In 1973, the club won the Rheingold Tournament. In 1975, Hoboken F.C. won the New Jersey Division of the Men’s U.S. Open Cup and 1976 won the New Jersey Division of the Men’s Amateur Cup.

For the 1975-1976 season, the club moved from Schuetzenpark to Overpeck County Park in Leonia and began using the name Bergen Kickers for the men's amateur team. In 1976, the the club moved into the Major Division (First Division) of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. In 1984, for the first time in the club's history, the Hoboken F.C. won the overall championship of the Cosmopolitan Soccer League.

In 1987, the Hoboken F.C. won the Cosmopolitan League Cup. The club would again win this tournament in 1989-1990. Hoboken F.C. also won the New Jersey Cup of Champions in 1988.

Over the last thirty years the club's membership has included persons of all nationalities who are interested in the game of soccer. In addition to the men’s amateur team, the club also sponsors an Over 40 team known as the Hoboken Travelers.
