Bernard Widrow (born
December 24 ,1929 ) is aU.S. professor ofelectrical engineering atStanford University .Fact|date=May 2008 He is the co-inventor of the Widrow-HoffLeast mean squares filter (LMS ) adaptive algorithm with his then doctoral student Ted Hoff. The LMS algorithm led to the ADALINE and MADALINEartificial neural networks and to thebackpropagation technique.Publication
