Electoral district of Bowen

Bowen was an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Queensland from 1873 to 1950 and at various times until 1992.

Bowen is the only Queensland electorate to ever return a Communist Member, Fred Paterson, who served as member for Bowen from 15 April 1944 to 29 April 1950.

In addition, Bowen has provided the state of Queensland with 4 Attorney's General, Henry Rogers Beor (1880); Pope Alexander Cooper (1880-1883); Charles Edward Chubb (1883); and, Peter Roylance Delamothe (1963-1971).

Like most electoral districts in Queensland, Bowen has been the scene of a number of by-elections.

Today, the electoral districts of Whitsunday and Burdekin comprise parts of the former Electoral district of Bowen.
