Aruba . Tiara Air has flights offering toCuraçao ,Punto Fijo , andBonaire . Theairline has nowShorts 360 twinturboprop aircraft . The airline is currently based atQueen Beatrix International Airport . Its secondaryhub is now located inCuracao Hato International Airport . Alejandro Muyale, the director, named the airline after his daughter Tiara Muyale. The word "tiara" is derived from Latin, meaning "crown".History
The Airline currently flies to
Curacao ,Bonaire andLas Piedras in Venezuela. The airline currently operates with two aircraft in its fleet, both areShorts 360 .Some time ago, Alejandro Muyale, who has been performing
aircraft ground handling services atQueen Beatrix International Airport for over 30 years now, and atHato International Airport (Curaçao ) for close to 6 years, fulfilled his dream of applying for certification with the Department of Civil Aviation. The Economic Authority has granted him a Shorts 360 as a way to start off his airline. In April 2007 Tiara Air were operating just 28 flights a week, now in January 2008 they operate 86 flights each week. Plans are well under way to phase out the Shorts SD3-60 aircraft and replace them with modern pressurizedSaab 340A aircraft capable of flying at 310 miles per hour. This improvement to their fleet will enable Tiara Air to provide more services and add direct flights to Venezuela and Colombia. Tiara Air continues to work to secure aBombardier CRJ200 , which is expected in the in the third quarter of 2009. The addition of this modern longer range aircraft will provide non-stop services to destinations such asMiami ,Houston ,Jamaica ,Puerto Rico and other islands in theCaribbean . It is also expected to expand its services into the greater global market place. This rapidity of expansion, however, is no reason to believe that Tiara Air will not become a successful commuter airline. Some may believe that Tiara Air will follow the same fate as its predecessors, such asRoyal Aruban Airlines ,West Aruba andAir Aruba (the most recent domestic operational airline that had filed bankruptcy in the year 2000) but the present management team , who have more than 100 years of cumulative aviation experience between them, believe they have the formula for success where their predecessors failed. This new Aruban airline has won the hearts and gathered the support of many on the island.Ticket sales have increased month on month and the management team are working extremely hard to maintain the support of their local and international satisfied customer base.Destinations
