In 1917, the works on Baenão were completed. The inaugural match was played on August 15 of that year, when Liga Paraense de Futebol (which was an all-stars team of Pará state) beat Reserva Naval 2-0. The first goal of the stadium was scored by Liga Paraense de Futebol's Aranha, who was a Brasil Esporte Clube player.
The stadium's attendance record currently stands at 27,200, set on
September 14 ,1972 when Remo and Vasco da Gama drew 0-0.References
