However that series was cancelled after just 15 episodes. In 1980 he was a regular cast member of soap opera "Arcade" which was launched by several members of the creative team who had been behind "Number 96", and this show was another ratings failure cancelled after just six weeks on air. (He played Craig, who worked at the sports shop) He also acted in other television series such as "Class of '74", "Cop Shop" and "Chances", and has made guest appearances in programs such as "Matlock Police", "The Love Boat", and "A Country Practice".

Film roles have included appearances in "Stone" (1974) and "The Chain Reaction" (1980). During the 1980s he acted in several popular television miniseries. Ward subsequently played a regular role in situation comedy "My Two Wives" (1992).

More recent roles include appearances in "All Saints" in 2001, "Bad Cop, Bad Cop" in 2003, and in "Farscape".
