Goosebumps book series byR. L. Stine . It was also adapted as an episode of the Goosebumps television series.ynopsis
Twelve-year-old Jerry Saddler and his sister Terri go to visit their cousins Bradford "Brad" Saddler and his wife Agatha, who live near a cemetery - as well as a beach that has a scary cave which is the subject of local legends. Jerry and Terri are told by local kids named Sam, Louisa, and Nat that the cave is haunted, but of course they decide they need to check it out for themselves and journey off to explore it. A flickering light entices the kids in and soon they wish they would have heeded the warnings. Late one night, Jerry sneaks out to find out where the flickering light is coming from. Terri also sneaks out. The flickering light turns out to be a mysterious man's candle. Jerry and Terri think that the man is a ghost, but it turns out to be a scientist named Harrison Saddler who studies the
supernatural . (The cave is a sanctuary that the man is trying to trap some of the many ghosts on the beach with.) Harrison tells Jerry and Terri he is not a ghost and the two find out that Sam, Louisa, and Nat are ghosts of children who died long ago during a cold winter on a ship. In the end, Brad and Agatha also turn out to be ghosts when Harrison's dog won't stop barking around them (since dogs can sense the paranormal).Differences Between The Book and Television Episode
In the television episode, Terri and Jerry visit their Grandparents instead of cousins. Nat is absent, and Samuel is only referred to as 'Sam'.
