- Rivermark of Santa Clara
Rivermark of Santa Clara is a
master planned community inSanta Clara, California built on a convert|152|acre|km2|sing=on parcel formerly used byAgnews Developmental Center and owned by theState of California . The new community comprises retail space, parks, a new elementary school, apartments, condominiums, townhouses, and houses (detached single family homes). The Rivermark area is known for being an upscale neighborhood, with many young professionals and families as residents.The Rivermark "area" is loosely defined as the area between Montague Expressway, Lafayette St., Hope Dr., and the Guadalupe River. However, the official Rivermark of Santa Clara development is better defined as a sum of the parts, such as the Rivermark retail center, and the housing developments including The Arbors by
Centex , The Park by Centex, The Promenade by Lennar, The Greens by Lennar, The Landings by Shea, and The Glen by Shea. Developments not included in the Rivermark of Santa Clara development, but included in the loosely defined area above include Mission Gardens, Miraval, and 550 Moreland.History
In 1998 the Agnews Developmental Center closed its west campus, on which site Rivermark was later developed.
In September, 2000 the City of Santa Clara approved the Rivermark developers’ plans.
In 2002 three builders started building new housing developments on land directly bordering the Guadalupe River in Santa Clara, California. Construction on the last of those developments, The Park by Centex Homes, is still underway.
