Winston Egbert

Winston Egbert

Winston Egbert was a fictional character in the Sweet Valley High book series and the majority of its spin-offs. He was played by Michael Perl in the TV show of the same name.

Character

Winston, the sweet, neurotic, funny son of Sam and Sharon Egbert, is the widely acknowledged class clown of Sweet Valley High. He is one of Todd Wilkins' best friends, and is very close to Elizabeth Wakefield. He is often described as being lanky.

Initially, Winston was unlucky in love, having nursed a fruitless crush on Jessica Wakefield since fifth grade. Very early in the series he dated a girl called Mandy Farmer which ended when she moved to another town.

He developed feelings for cheerleader Maria Santelli when she helped him work on his campaign for class office. Maria was engaged to Michael Harris at the time but his possessiveness and jealousy led to their break up. Winston and Maria became a couple.

Winston drove an orange VW which he sometimes likened to the pumpkin in the Cinderella story.

In the spin-off series "Sweet Valley Senior Year", Winston, like a good number of the characters found in the original Sweet Valley series, was never mentioned.

As a freshman at Sweet Valley University, Winston was accidentally registered under the name "Winnie Egbert", thus receiving a room in an all girls dorm.
