New Wave is a fictional character in the DC Comics universe.
Fictional character biography
Becky Jones can mentally animate and control water and can become living water. Originally a member of the nature-themed supervillain group called the Masters of Disaster.
New Wave leads the team when they assist Baron Bedlam in his Soviet-backed invasion of the country of Markovia. There, they fight the Outsiders for a second time. During the fight, New Wave personally subdues Katana.
New Wave confronts fellow teammate and sister Windfall over her inability to be tougher with the Outsiders, despite the villain's victory. Windfall had developed sympathy for the team, especially the heroine Halo and did not want to hurt them.[1] Shakedown, another member of the team, attempts to play peacemaker between the two. Windfall eventually quits the team.
Later, New Wave and Shakedown participate in a kidnapping scheme gone wrong, as the parents are unable to pay the ransom. Shakedown is ordered to kill the victim, a young girl and refuses. New Wave uses her water powers to drown him. Batman and the Justice Society of America rescue the girl before New Wave could harm her.
Shakedown has possibly resurfaced, it is not known if this is the exact person New Wave has seemingly killed.
During the Infinite Crisis, someone that look likes New Wave joined the Secret Society of Super Villains headed by Alexander Luthor.
Powers and abilities
New Wave can transform any or all of her body into a coherent watery mass. New Wave can use this for a variety of effects including firing jets of water, increasing the water pressure within her body, changing her shape, elongating herself or growing to immense size by dispersing her mass.
