Florida State Road 848

Florida State Road 848

Locally known as Stirling Road, State Road 848 is a 6.8-mile-long east-west commuter highway in Broward County. Its western terminus is an intersection with Dykes Road; its eastern terminus is an intersection with Federal Highway (US 1-SR 5) in downtown Dania Beach.

Between US 441-SR 7 and Florida's Turnpike (SR 91), Stirling Road passes through the Seminole Indian Reservation, which includes Seminole Okalee Indian Village and Museum, Seminole Casino Hollywood, and Ah-Tha-Thi-Ki Museum.

An interchange with SR 848 with Interstate 95 (SR 9) was the site of Six Flags Atlantis, a water park that was in existence in the 1980s and early 1990s. After the closing and demolition of the park, a large shopping center was built in its place.

West of US 441/SR7, SR 848 extends another 7.5 miles, through Cooper City and Davie (where it intersects Davie Road) to a dead end 1.3 miles west of Interstate 75 (SR 93), although there are several other, disconnected, sections of Stirling Road between the dead end and US 27 (SR 25).

State Road 848 is mostly an divided highway but the central reservation is often broken for U-turns and intersections. However, the disconnected sections of Stirling Road betweenSR 25 (US 27) are small street that are Undivided highways
