Killyclogher (Electoral Ward)

Killyclogher (Electoral Ward)

Killyclogher is a village and an electoral ward (and neighbourhood) suituated inside the town of Omagh, County Tyrone. In the 2001 census, it had a population of 2,945.

Due to urban growth in the 1990s Killyclogher is now 'officially' recognised as being inside Omagh town boundaries and as a suburb of Omagh. It still has village status though and has a strong community identity more closely linked to the rural parish of Cappagh than to that of Omagh town. The village gives its name (in Irish - Coill an Chlochair) to the successful Gaelic football team which is part of the thriving GAA club of Cappagh Parish within which Killyclogher is situated. The GAA club provides for all aspects of GAA sport and cultural activities.
