"Hemerocoetes pauciradiatus" is a duckbill fish of the genus "Hemerocoetes", found only around the south east of the South Island of New Zealand, and around the Chatham Islands, on the continental shelf at depths of between 20 and 200 m. Their length is between 10 and 25 cm. "Hemerocoetes pauciradiatus" is very similar to the closely related opalfish.
