In Hindu mythology, brotherhood is highly important and respected. A good example of the use of "Anuj" is in the Ramayana. Lord Rama's brothers—Lakshmana, Bharat, and Shatrughna—are addressed as "RamAnuj" (meaning, "younger brother of Ram"). Similar references are also made in the Mahabharata's address of the five Pandav brothers.
