Electoral division of Wellington

Electoral division of Wellington

The Electoral division of Wellington is one of the 15 Tasmanian Legislative Council electorates or seats. It covers Hobart suburbs of Battery Point, New Town, West Hobart, Moonah, Mt Stuart, Lutana and Lenah Valley. The name is derived from Mount Wellington which is a dominant feature of the area.

The last election held in 6 May, 2006 returned sitting Australian Labor Party member Doug Parkinson, who defeated five other candidates (4 independents, 1 Green). [http://www.electoral.tas.gov.au/pages/legcouncil/legcouncil2006/Wellington/WellingtonFirstSum.htm]
