Bernhard Landauer (born
July 20 ,1970 inInnsbruck ) is anAustria ncountertenor .Following his first concert and stage experience as soprano soloist with the Boys' Choir of Wilten Monastery (Innsbruck), he studied voice at the Vienna Academy of Music under
Helene Karusso andKurt Equiluz . He received further training fromKarl-Heinz Jarius inFrankfurt .In addition to
Early music performance, he is particularly interested in the interpretation of literature that is rather unusual for acountertenor . He has performed a number of such works, including Schubert'sWinterreise ,Krämerspiegel byRichard Strauss , the role of Fyodor in Mussorgsky'sBoris Godunov and the "Three Latin Prayers byGiacinto Scelsi . Performing world premieres of compositions byAlfred Schnittke and others he has also madeContemporary Music an important part of his work.Landauer has performed on many European stages with different orchestras and musicians such as
Thomas Hengelbrock ,René Jacobs , Robert King andTon Koopman and has recorded more than 60 CDs.He has lived in
